The Analytik Jena CL-3000 UV Crosslinker is the ideal UV crosslinker for scientific laboratories, hospitals and microbiology labs. It is designed to measure and control the ultraviolet (UV) radiation within the exposure chamber and a unique UV sensor continually measures the UV energy and automatically adjusts to variations in UV intensity that occurs as the UV tubes age. This same UV sensor feedback measurement system allows you to set UV sample exposure, which automatically deactivates the UV sources when the set UV energy dose has been achieved.

Shortwave UV (UVC) as a Disinfectant

Ultraviolet light is considered an ancillary disinfectant to chemical disinfectants in the healthcare environment. The high-precision CL-3000 crosslinker is capable of producing a cumulative dosage of 1 J/cm2 , this is considered well beyond the requirement needed for disinfection. The CL-3000 provides near uniform UVC light with a ~10% coefficient of variation and less than 2 mJ/cm2 difference between the highest and lowest reading. Most importantly, the CL-3000 has real-time monitoring of UVC dosage to assure reproducible dosing irrespective of space and time.

Immobilization of Nucleic Acids to Membranes

The UVP Crosslinker is a microprocessor controlled UV irradiation system dedicated to nucleic acid linking to membranes for Southern, Northern, Dot and Slot Blot applications. It can also be used for UV disinfection and for elimination of PCR contaminations.

Microprocessor Controlled Reproducibility
The programmable microprocessor constantly monitors the UV light emission. Irradiation stops exactly when the programmed energy is achieved. Thus, the effect of decreasing UV intensity due to bulb aging is compensated for.

The UVP Crosslinker combines the latest UV technology with high quality manufacturing: aluminum UV exposure chamber, protective quartz disk on the UV sensor cell, and a highly resistant and easy-to-clean keypad and housing.

The large display provides a series of predefined methods, making the UVP Crosslinker an easy to use yet powerful instrument for immobilization of nucleic acids to membranes. The programmed data are shown on the LED display.

    What applications can the CL-3000 be used for? The UVP Crosslinker offers researchers an instrument to quickly, safely and efficiently expose samples to a controlled amount of ultraviolet radiation. The 3 different versions, each with a different UV wavelength (254nm, 302nm, 365nm), provides the following for exposed samples:

    What is the maximum time exposure for the CL-3000? 

    Are there operational presets available with the UVP CL-3000? Yes, two operational crosslinker settings are available.

    • Preset UV Energy Exposure: provides a measured dose of UV exposure to the sample.
    • Preset UV Time Exposure: measures exposure time without regard to exposure intensity; therefore, when the unit is used in the Preset UV Time Exposure mode, there is no sensor involvement and thus there is no stated intensity value being delivered to the sample.

    Can the user define settings for the CL-3000? Yes, users can create a UV energy setting or a UV time exposure setting.

    Can you change the wavelength of the CL-3000? The  CL-3000 is purchased with shortwave, long wave or midrange tubes. However, if user requirements and applications change, the UVP Crosslinker provide you with the unique ability to change the ultraviolet wavelength and recalibrate the UV sensor and microprocessor to the new UV wavelength.
